Tennis is definitely not the first thing that comes to mind when contemplating a restaurant called Le Filet.
For our third visit to the restaurant we were sited at a table overlooking the tennis courts at Jeanne Mance Park across the street, which provided the inspiration for the restaurant’s name.
Opened in 2011 by an impressive foursome — Le Club Chasse et Pêche partners chef Claude Pelletier and Hubert Marsolais, sommelier Patrick St-Vincent and chef Yasu Okazaki — Le Filet has been overwhelmed by patrons ever since. Hugely popular, the restaurant is presently ranked 35th in Canada’s top 100 restaurants.
This evening we skipped the game and went directly to the set:
Tuna tartare, egg confit, nori tempura
For the match we selected:
Risotto, asparagus, shrimp, lemon confit
Duck magret, rhubarb, croquette of confit, lavender
Cavatelli, foie gras, veal cheek
Fish on the fly (halibut), zucchini flower, tomatoes, beans
Wine – Le Caillou Côtes-du-rhône
The delicious food, the good wine, the friendly service and the perfect companions contributed to a third great experience at Le Filet. We will be back.
It’s cool to live in Montreal.
The epic epicureanism experience continues …
